Dome of the Dead Halloween & Day of Dead celebration (coming October 30, 2015)
It’s our annual Halloween Party / Day of the Dead Celebration!
This year features none other than Frankie Hernandez & the Old Soul Parade, live in person at your Takilma Community Building!
Note well: this event takes place on Friday the 30th–not Halloween–so that come Oct 31st you can be trick or treating, getting spooked at IV Haunt, or checking out the other parties around the Valley.
We’ll have a delectable tamale dinner available starting at 6pm (until sold out). Your choice of 2 of 3 available tamales (Black Bean-Eggplant-Goat & Gorganzola Cheese; Jalapeño-Pesto-Potato; and Sweet Potato-Onion-Red & Beaver Dam Pepper) plus salad and side of black beans. [A la carte tamales $3]  Sweets and drinks will be available all night.
From 8-10pm, enjoy family friendly boogie time with Gold Miner spinning the tunes (including Halloween fare like Ghostbusters, Monster Mash). Expect breaks for costume contests, raffle, and more
Then the main event gets going around 10:30pm, with Frankie Hernandez & The Old Soul Parade. Frankie rocked the Halloween dance a few years back and it was a great time–we’re eagerly awaiting the return!
Most years if the event falls before Halloween, we call it a Halloween party and if it’s after, we call it a Day of the Dead event. This year we’re celebrating both–so feel free to bring items for an altar.
By the way, this is one of the biggest fundraisers for our Dome School kids, so we’re hopeful the community will come out and support it. We’d really appreciate help in the form of volunteering at the event (working the kitchen, for example), or help in the days leading up (we’re planning a tamale-making party the Sunday before). Donations of food/veggies for the dinner would likewise be very much appreciated, as would donations for prizes (we’re thinking either a silent auction or a raffle, but we’d like to have prizes for costume contests as well). If you’re able to help with either your time or with a donation of produce or art or a gift certificate (or ??), please call the school. Thanks!
We’ve also set up a Facebook event page—If you do Facebook, we’d appreciate if you could share widely and invite your friends to join: https://www.facebook.com/events/1638086033130511/
Please plan to come on out and support our kids. Thank you!
